ABOUT THIS EVENT

We urge you to attend RE-CONNECT! This is a critical moment for Breaking the Silence solidarity, as Guatemala continues to feel the impacts of COVID-19, along with continuing repression.

We will make and refresh connections, be updated on struggles in Guatemala and Mi’kmaki, and be renewed for ongoing support and action. We are excited to welcome our Guatemalan guest, Rony Lec, founder of BTS partner group, the Meso-American Perma-Culture InstituteEste Chep, BTS Guatemala Coordinator, will update us on the extremely serious Guatemalan human rights context and the situation of our BTS partners. We are delighted that Jeremias Tecu will join us for a BTS launch of In The Arms of Inup, Jeremias’ moving story of his life as a refugee in Guatemala and in Fredericton, written by Eve Mills AllenCooperants Laura Robinson and Indigo Christ will share their experiences as Maritime-based Cooperants in 2021, and we will hear about plans for the 2022 Cooperant Program..

And of course, there will be time for community building and a Saturday night fiesta.

Your participation matters more than ever this year! We hope to have as many BTS members and supporters as possible. So please come to make or renew connections, get updated on struggles in Guatemala and Mi’kmaki, and be inspired to ongoing support and action.

We ask that all participants in the BTS Annual Gathering be doubly vaxxed, unless you have a medical exemption.

Bursaries are provided by the Breaking the Silence Network. We sell Guatemalan crafts and BTS coffee during the year to ensure that all who support BTS are able to attend. Please do not stay away because of a lack of funds! We need you! However, it is helpful for you to pay a portion of the cost, if you are able.

To receive a bursary please enter one of the promo codes when you buy a ticket to reduce your program cost. (Please cut and paste code).
